College Trips

Laguna Blanca sponsors one or two college visiting trips a year, set to coincide with school vacation periods. Visiting locations are chosen based on a number of factors, the foremost of which is the presence of a wide variety of institutions, in both style and selectivity, located within a fairly compact metropolitan area. While every college visited is worthy of consideration by some segment of the Laguna Blanca population, the principal purpose of the visits is to acquaint students in ninth, tenth, or eleventh grade with a broad awareness of how undergraduate institutions differ from one another, as well as the skills needed to be an effective “consumer” of the undergraduate product. Practically speaking, this means that our visits will be more informal, often using self-guided tours in place of those offered by the admissions office, and rather than attend official information sessions, we will seek out information more relevant to the undecided student.
