IndependentCongratulations are in order for the Mock Trial team on their impressive achievement of reaching the semi-finals and securing fourth place, thereby etching Laguna Blanca's name onto a prestigious plaque. The Mock Trial Team, consisting of students from Grades 9-12, joined forces with local volunteer attorneys to compete in the Santa Barbara County Mock Trial competition on February 24 and March 2. Over the past five months, these dedicated students diligently immersed themselves in extensive legal preparation. They adeptly assumed diverse roles including defendants, prosecutors, witnesses, clerks, and bailiffs in a gripping trial focused on A Murder Trial, accompanied by a pretrial argument concerning the 4th Amendment and a geofence warrant.
A special thank you to our Parent Attorney Coaches John Carpenter and Neil Levinson, and District Attorney Coaches Sarah Barkley and Shelly Mossembekker. Their time and expertise are invaluable, offering our students a distinctive introduction to the legal system and a memorable experience.
